UofL launches Fix-A-Bike, Get-A-Bike Program

To kick off the new year, UofL is celebrating its renewed designation as a silver-level Bicycle Friendly University and one of the Top 100 Most Bike-Friendly Universities in the nation, by launching a new program designed to build the skills of UofL students, faculty, and staff, empowering them to maintain their own bikes and use the roadways more confidently.
This is the first on-going, incentivized bicycle education program UofL has been able to offer since the original Earn-A-Bike Program was defunded in 2017.
All UofL students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in our inaugural Fix-A-Bike, Get-A-Bike Workshop series. Participants will learn:
- How to choose a bicycle that truly fits their needs and their body;
- What are the basic components of a bicycle and how they function together;
- A basic introduction to bicycle maintenance and simple, common repairs;
- Bike etiquette, safety, and rules-of-the-road.
At the end of the series, participants will have the opportunity to keep the bikes they have been working on and we will go on a short bike ride to celebrate! You must be available and present for all three sessions in order to take home a bicycle.
Sessions will be held on Tuesday afternoons, January 20th, January 27th, and February 3rd in the UofL Bike Shop located in the basement of the Urban & Public Affairs building at 426 W Bloom St.
