John Kleber, PhD, professor emeritus of history from Morehead State University and editor of the popular "Kentucky Encyclopedia," will lead the first of three online book talks hosted by UofL this summer.

Dr. Kleber will consider how Henry David Thoreau's "Walden, or Life in the Woods" speaks to the current global pandemic. The classic book is a reflection on living in simple surroundings, with themes of solitude, connecting with nature, individualism, social distancing and living with less.

The event is free and will be held online via Zoom.

Registration is required.
