In April 2026, the Louisville Metro Department of Transportation (DOT) announced the launch of a new micromobility program designed to expand affordable, accessible, and sustainable transportation options for residents. The program includes an exclusive operating agreement with Lime and a strategic partnership with the Transit Authority of River City (TARC).

This new initiative introduces a broader range of shared mobility options, including electric bicycles (e-bikes) and seated scooters, providing residents with flexible alternatives for short trips, connections to bus routes, and daily commuting. Louisville Metro’s dockless fleet will expand from approximately 1,300 vehicles to 2,000.

Lime e-bike at BVNRides cost $1 to unlock the vehicle and $0.39 per minute. Or you can choose the LimePrime flat-rate subscription, which provides unlimited trips for a flat fee of $2.50 per trip for up to 20 minutes

The collaboration with TARC integrates micromobility with Louisville Metro’s public transit network, which is free for all UofL employees and currently enrolled students, making it easier for riders to connect between buses and shared vehicles.

Benefits include:

  • 50% discounted rides for trips that begin in West and South Louisville neighborhoods
  • TARC Riders Club members get 10% off!
  • An increased fleet size for better service coverage
  • Integration with TARC’s Transit App
  • New designated bike/scooter parking areas

The initiative is part of a broader commitment to sustainability, reduced congestion, and improved quality of life for all residents!
