Tackling the Urban Heat Island Effect
This week, the Operations Committee of UofL's Sustainability Council got to tour some recent improvements to the Brandeis School of Law, where we replaced a dark-colored, leaking roof with a new, high-efficiency, triple-layer, insulating roof of light color to reflect more heat and tackle Louisville's extreme Urban Heat Island Effect. #CoolRoof.
Similar roof projects will be done in the next year on about a dozen other UofL buildings!
We also checked out the new high-efficiency air handling unit which has vastly improved moisture issues and reduced energy use.
