Cards Commuter Challengers log over 10,000 car-free miles
From August 29 - September 30, 2022. students, faculty and staff across the University of Louisville participated in the Cards Commuter Challenge, an annual competition sponsored by the university-wide Sustainability Council to encourage people to save money, burn calories, put an end to pollution, and win prizes…all by simply choosing to get to campus in a new way!
Participants recorded their trips on Cardinal Directions throughout the Challenge, and each week they had the chance to win one of the $50 weekly prizes or the $250 Grand Prize! One student and one faculty/staff member won each week! Any trip by means other than driving alone increased your chances of winning.
Weekly $50 Winners included:
- Business Professor, Anne Marie Zwerg-Villegas, who logged 19 trips on foot, bus & telework in week 1
- Biology Grad Student, Sophia Anner, who logged 2 bike commutes in week 1
- Student, Debra Rayford, who racked up huge mileage on four intercity bus trips in week 2
- Dental Systems Analyst, Clinton Coulter, who logged an 8-mile bike commute in week 2
- Freshman, Anna Dittman, who logged 17 trips by carpool & walking in week 3

- Student, Umaina Umair, who logged 16 trips by carpool & walking in week 4
