Draft UofL Strategic Plan includes sustainability in vision and values statements
Last week, President Gerry Bradley, Interim Provost Katie Cardarelli and Strategic Plan co-chairs gave an update to the UofL community in Town Hall sessions on Belknap and HSC campuses. The recording from the Oct. 20 session (as well as the previous Strategic Plan Town Halls) are available on the Strategic Plan webpage. The latest draft of the Strategic Plan includes revisions to the university's Mission, Vision, and Values statements, plan goals and strategies, as well as the addition of actions for each of the plan strategies.
The latest draft reveals that, for the first time in the history of the University of Louisville, sustainability is being included as a core component of the university's official statement of its Vision and Values.
The Draft Vision Statement reads:
"To be a leading destination where academic excellence and opportunity converge, fostering a vibrant and inclusive culture that empowers every learner to succeed. We will set a national standard by building a community of bold innovators and responsible stewards of knowledge, resources and sustainability— driving transformative progress in health outcomes and societal well-being."
The Draft Values Statement revises the original eight CARDINAL Principles down to five CARDS Principles, with Sustainability serving as one of the university's five core values:
"S - Sustainability
We honor our sacred trust—the stewardship of knowledge, potential and a better world—by making bold, responsible choices that serve people, the planet and future generations. Sustainability isn't just an initiative; it's how we operate, invest and lead with a deep commitment to leave our institution, and the world it serves, stronger than we found it."
The entire campus community is invited to review the latest draft of the plan and offer feedback on the Strategic Plan Survey as well as the Mission, Vision and Values Survey by Friday, Oct. 31.
