Louisville Solar Tour

Louisville Solar Tour (Sustainability Now!, FORward Radio, Oct. 2, 2017)

Jen Walters-Petry and Wallace McMullen are two activists with Solar Over Louisville who have been helping organize the 10th annual Louisville Solar Tour which takes place Saturday, October 7th. The event begins at 9:30am at Copper & Kings, the Butchertown solar-powered brandy distillery at 1121 E Washington St., with a free information session led by experts describing the financial, social, and environmental benefits of using solar power. Speakers will also address how to obtain and finance solar power.

At 11am, tour participants will board a bus or join a group bike tour. The Solar Tour will visit a variety of houses, churches and businesses with unique solar installations, including the University of Louisville's Phoenix House. On site owners or installers will present briefly at each location. The Bus Tour is limited to 40 participants, and costs $15.00. The bike tour is free and open to the public. Advance registration for both tours is requested. More information and registration at www.kyses.org/louisvillesolartour2017

After touring, the participants will gather at Apocalypse Brew Works (1612 Mellwood Ave) to celebrate solar energy and socialize from 1-5pm. Food trucks, tabling and refreshments will be at this solar powered brewery to enhance enjoyment.
