Cassia Herron - Empower Kentucky SummitJoin us for our monthly EcoReps workshop featuring locals making a difference in sustainability and a free vegetarian lunch!

We conclude our fall series on last Fridays at noon with a workshop lead by the amazing Cassia Herron! Cassia is a leader in Kentucky’s local food movement and as a community organizer, urban planner, writer, community development consultant and social justice warrior has extensive experience working to improve urban and rural communities in Kentucky. Through the lens of racial justice, equity and community wealth creation, Herron spends her time holding accountable public sector officials, challenging philanthropic and private investors and inspiring her fellow citizens to envision and create a new economy in Kentucky based on cooperation and equity. She currently leads the Louisville Association for Community Economics who is educating the Louisville community about cooperative economics and leading efforts to open the Louisville Community Grocery as the city's only grocery co-op. Herron serves as Vice-Chair of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and last semester began teaching a new course at Bellarmine University in the Environmental Studies – Urban Food Systems. She also is a contributing writer for the LEO Weekly. Herron is a graduate of the University of Louisville and has a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan.

The Sustainability Council’s EcoReps program is designed to move students, faculty & staff beyond talk to action for a more sustainable UofL! We provide basic training & resources, service opportunities, and leadership positions as a point-person & peer-to-peer advocate for sustainability. More info on EcoReps website. This fall, we continue our series of workshops each month on last Fridays at noon. All are welcome. Facebook Event.
