Team UofL pedals 4000 miles in Cycle September as we approach World Car-Free Day 9/22

World Car Free Day

UofL’s Sustainability Council and Get Healthy Now salute our top riders in the first twenty days of Cycle September! Together, Team UofL has already pedaled an impressive 3968 miles over 293 rides, including 644 miles of transportation cycling that has kept 414 pounds of carbon pollution out of our warming skies!

It is not too late to join in the fun and explore your options for getting around on World Car-Free Day, Friday, September 22nd. Explore all of your options at Cardinal Directions (where you can also log your trips to win prizes in the 2023 Cards Commuter Challenge LogoCards Commuter Challenge!), join Team UofL on Strava, and register for Cycle September.

Our May 2022 Bike Month Challenge winner, Civil & Environmental Engineering GRA Juan Tabares Tamayo, continues to dominate the mileage category with 508mi over 14 rides. But Geographic & Environmental Sciences professor, Jason Naylor, continues to mount up more often than anyone else, logging the greatest number of rides (34, 183mi). Surging upward in the ranks is Clinton Coulter, a Systems Analyst in the School of Dentistry, who has logged the second highest number of rides (29, 220mi) and bike commutes (12, 209mi), behind Sustainability Director, Justin Mog (19 bike commutes, 286mi)! Here’s how it is all stacking up:
