Team UofL pedals more than ever in Cycle September 2025
Team UofL had a blast and made an impact in Cycle September 2025, locally co-sponsored by Get Healthy Now, and UofL's Sustainability Council. Together, from September 1-30, we blew past all our milestones from last year and pedaled a record total of 6,380 miles on 625 rides, with 1,282 miles of bike commuting preventing 824 pounds of carbon pollution!
Congratulations to everyone who participated and especially to our top riders in Team UofL:
-
The best performance of any current UofL student, faculty, or staff was logged by our May 2025 Bike Month Challenge winner, Clinton Coulter, a Systems Analyst in the School of Dentistry, who commuted the most miles by bike (406 miles, 26 days, 65 separate trips), logged the most trips overall (70), and cycled the 2nd most miles (555). Fantastic pedaling, Clinton!
- No one came close to riding as far during Cycle September as Juan Tabares Tamayo
, a recent PhD graduate in Civil & Environmental Engineering, who once again logged the most miles, racking up 620 miles to top his first place finish last year with 578 miles.
- Vy Pham, a REACH tutor, took the second most trips by bicycle during Cycle September (63 trips for 73 miles).
- Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Rachel Singel, took the third most bike trips in the month (53 for 146 miles), and was the 4th best bike commuter (67 miles over 13 days).
- Kudos also go to top bike commuter Justin Mog, who finished the month as the 2nd best Bike Commuter in the nation, pedaling a total of 395 miles with bike commutes every day of the month!
This year’s Challenge may have ended, but it is never too late to pick up some healthy, sustainable two-wheeling habits! In fact, the weather for bike riding will remain optimal for many weeks to come.
