UofL’s Ying Kit Chan, chair of the department of Fine Arts, will show his “10,000 Thoughts” Deep Ecology Art Exhibit Aug. 30th through Oct. 7th at the Jewish Community Center’s Patio Gallery. His show consists of small sketches and photographic prints embedded with philosophical contemplations of the state of global environmental conditions. He continues to explore the theme of deep ecology, an ecocentric rather than anthropocentric worldview, which emphasizes interconnectedness and harmony of the universe. In addition to the deep ecology philosophy, the work interprets Taoist and Buddhist thoughts, as well as Jewish ideas of nature, rain, tree, soil and the Sabbath.
The gallery will hold a reception on Sunday, Aug. 30th from 2 to 4 p.m. Chan will give a talk at 3 p.m.
This is a YES! Fest event!
