Residents receive two free wash cycles and two free dry cycles each week through the Speed Queen app. When creating an account, use the ULINK version of your UofL email and select “Forgot Password” so you can view your preloaded laundry stipend.

If something in your room or a common area needs repair, submit a maintenance request through your Cards Nest Portal. This is the fastest and most reliable way to get help.
What to include:
- A clear description of the issue
- The exact location (room, bathroom, common space, etc.)
- Photos, if applicable (this helps speed things up)
What happens next:
- Requests are reviewed and assigned to maintenance staff
- You may be contacted if additional information is needed
- Staff may enter your space to complete the repair (per housing policy)
Important notes:
- Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can slow things down — one detailed request is best
- Emergency issues (e.g., flooding, no power) should be reported to your RA or area desk immediately, not just submitted online
All students living on campus are automatically assigned a meal plan as part of their housing experience and billed each semester through their student account.
How meal plans work:
- Meal plans include access to a range of campus dining options
- Most plans combine meal swipes with declining balance (flex funds)
- Your plan is based on where you live:
- Apartment-style housing: typically assigned the Apartment Meal Plan
- Traditional or suite-style halls: typically assigned the Traditional Meal Plan
- Affiliated apartments: typically eligible for the Commuter Meal Plan
Making changes:
- Students have the option to upgrade their meal plan
- All upgrades and changes are managed through the Cardinal Card Office
- Deadlines apply each semester, so be sure to review options early
Important notes:
- Meal plan options and eligibility may change
- For the most up-to-date information, including plan comparisons and pricing, visit the Dining website

Questions about your plan, balance, or upgrade options should be directed to the Cardinal Card Office.
Pets are not permitted in University Housing, with the exception of fish.
What is allowed:
- Fish are the only animals permitted in residence halls
- Aquariums must be 10 gallons or less
Important clarification:
- No other animals are allowed in tanks, including reptiles or aquatic species (e.g., lizards, frogs, turtles, jellyfish, etc.)
Service Animals and ESAs:
- Approved service animals are permitted in University Housing
- Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are allowed only if they are registered and approved through the university’s accommodations process
Students must complete the appropriate steps through the Housing Accommodations process before bringing an ESA to campus.
Need help?
If you have questions about what is allowed or how to request accommodations, please review the Housing Accommodations page or contact University Housing.
Area desk services are available for all residence halls and are staffed 24/7 to support residents.
What you should know:
- While area desk services are always available, individual hall front desks may have limited hours
- If your hall desk is closed, another area desk will be available to assist you
- Visit the front desk information page to see which desks are open and how to contact them
What area desks can help with:
- Lockouts and key access
- General questions and directions
- Immediate support or concerns in your community
Important notes:
- Area desks cannot accept deliveries of any kind, including food, packages, gifts, or floral arrangements
- For urgent or safety-related concerns, contact your area desk first
In case of emergency: Contact ULPD at (502) 852-6111
All mail and packages for residents are processed through Canon in the Student Activities Center (SAC).
What you should know:
- You will receive a notification when your mail or package is ready for pickup
- Be prepared to show your student ID when picking up items
Mailing address format: Use the following format for all incoming mail:
Hall Name
Student Name
2100 S. Floyd Street, Suite W119
Louisville, KY 40292
Important note for The Province residents:
- Mail will be delivered directly to your mailbox at the property
- Packages will be delivered to your front door when possible
- If delivery is not possible, packages will be routed to Canon for pickup
Additional notes:
- Incorrect or incomplete addresses may delay delivery
- Area desks do not accept or hold packages, so all items must be picked up through Canon (unless you live at The Province, as noted above)
Residents who plan to bring a car to campus must purchase a university parking permit.
What you should know:
- Parking permits are required to park in designated campus areas
- Availability and location of parking may depend on your residence hall
- Permits are managed through Parking and Transportation
Getting started:
- Visit the Parking and Transportation website to:
- View permit options
- Purchase a permit
- Review parking rules and regulations
Important notes:
- Parking is not automatically included with housing
- Be sure to review all parking guidelines to avoid citations or towing
