It's Time to Check Out!
As the academic year comes to a close, it’s important to plan your move-out ahead of time to avoid unnecessary stress. Please read through the information below carefully to ensure a smooth and successful departure from your residence hall.
Move-Out Deadline: Fall 2025
All residents who are not returning for the Spring 2026 semester must be fully moved out within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. — whichever comes first.
Late stays are not permitted unless you are approved for a graduation extension.
Students who are returning for the Spring 2026 semester are not required to move out of their residence hall. Our residence halls do not close during the break.
Move-Out Deadline: Spring 2026
All residents must be fully moved out within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10 a.m. — whichever comes first.
Late stays are not permitted unless you are approved for Summer Full Term or Summer Term I, were approved for a graduation extension, or are part of a preapproved University group.
Preparing for Move-Out
Follow these steps to avoid charges and ensure a smooth check-out:
1. Clean Your Space
- Close all blinds & windows
- Turn off all lights
- Unplug electronics
- Take out all trash to the proper dumpsters
- Wipe down all surfaces
- Clean out your refrigerator and wipe down all of the shelves
- Remove any personal items
- Lock your door as you leave
2. Restore Furniture
- Return all University-provided furniture to its original arrangement and condition.
- Do not leave extra furniture or personal items behind — you may be charged for removal.
3. Complete Your Express Checkout
- Pack up and clean your entire space.
- Visit your front desk to grab an Express Check-Out envelope.
- Place your key inside the envelope (if applicable).
- Drop the envelope in the designated box at your front desk OR return to your RA before 10:00 AM on move-out day.

Avoiding Fees
To avoid improper checkout or damage fees:
- Do not leave trash in your room or hallway.
- Avoid wall damage — remove command strips carefully.
- Be sure to return your keys; unreturned keys will result in a lock change charge.
Please note: Failure to check out by May 1 at 10:00 AM and/or improper check-out may result in fees being placed on your student financial account.
Summer Housing
Need to stay on campus this summer? Apply for summer housing through Cards Nest beginning March 1st. More information can be found on our Summer Application webpage.
Note: Students in summer housing may be required to move to a different hall or room.
