University Housing is excited to welcome over 2,200 new Cardinals to the University of Louisville this fall — and we can’t do it without YOU!
Move-In 2025 will take place from Wednesday, August 13 through Sunday, August 17. Volunteer opportunities are available every day, and even a few hours of your time can make a huge impact.

Volunteer Options
Help welcome new Cardinals by monitoring and directing vehicles into and out of designated parking areas. Your guidance ensures a smooth, efficient arrival experience for students and their families.
Be a critical part of move-in success by assisting with driving instructions around each residence hall. You'll help keep traffic moving safely and prevent congestion during this busy time.
Make a big difference on move-in day! Assist students and families by physically helping move personal belongings from vehicles into their new homes. Your support eases stress and helps create a positive first impression.
Keep move-in running smoothly by monitoring and directing the flow of elevator usage inside each building. Your role will help reduce wait times and ensure an organized process for everyone moving in.
Student Volunteers: Early Move-In Opportunity!
Want to move in early and help welcome your fellow students to campus? To qualify for early move-in, you must sign up for at least three full shifts across three different days. If you do not show up for a shift, you will be charged a nightly rate for your early move-in.
The shifts listed on the sign-up form are the shifts available to work, so be sure to select the ones that fit your schedule. More details about early move-in, including your move-in date and placement, will be shared closer to August. Keep an eye on your UofL email over the summer for updates!
Early move-in requests must be submitted by July 1st. Requests made after that date may not be able to be honored. Please email housing@louisville.edu for more information.

Absolutely! Just make sure you both indicate the other on your sign-up form!
No problem — we have roles that don't involve lifting.
Don't worry! There will be a training at the beginning of August to make sure you're comfortable in your role.
Fall 2025 Trainings will be offered virtually on these dates/times:
- July 29th from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
- August 7th from 4:00PM - 5:00 PM
Your volunteer coordinators will send out emails with the meeting links, so keep an eye out!
Can't make the training? There will be plenty of UHRE staff around to assist!
