Saturday Office Hours During Move-In

To support you during Move-In Weekend, several key campus offices will be open on Saturday, August 16th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to assist with any last-minute needs:

  • Registrar's Office
  • Bursar's Office
  • Financial Aid
  • Cardinal Card Office
  • Parking Office

These offices are here to help you start the semester off right if you should have any questions!

What to expect

Prepare for an effortless transition to your new academic journey! Our friendly staff will be on hand to assist you, answer any questions you may have, and guide you through the move-in process.

  • Vinyl bins will be available for you to check out during your appointment.
  • If you did not receive your Student ID card during Orientation, we highly encourage all residents to visit the Cardinal Card Office prior to or immediately after checking-in in order to collect their Student ID Card, as several halls require this ID card in order to access the building after move-in.

Unloading

When you arrive at your residence hall for your scheduled move-in appointment, please display your temporary parking pass [PDF] clearly on your dashboard. This pass grants you one hour of unloading time in the designated areas.

Be sure to print the pass and fill it out in it's entirety before you arrive to help keep move-in traffic flowing smoothly. After unloading, you’ll move your vehicle to long-term parking following the instructions provided.

Parking After Unloading

After unloading, click your hall’s name to find where to park. Maps will guide you to the correct lots!

Helpful Tips for Move-In Day:

  • To cut down on cardboard waste, pack items in reusable plastic bins
  • Save space by buying larger items after you arrive.
  • Despite our best-laid plans, some check-in areas can experience a bit of a queue if everyone arrives at the beginning of each time block or interstate traffic causes arrival delays. If you experience a wait before unloading your car, you can assist us best by remaining comfortably in your running vehicle and allowing us to provide everyone the same quality experience.
  • Please note that University Housing does not offer in-room delivery for any other packages delivered to campus prior to move-in. The Canon Mail Center (campus mail center) requests that no packages be mailed to campus earlier than two days before move-in due to limited storage availability.
    • Please ensure you will be able to transport items back to your residence hall after picking them up.
    • To address mail, use:
      • Hall Name
        Student Name
        2100 S. Floyd Street, Suite W119
        Louisville, KY 40292
    • To contact Canon, please use the below contact information:

  • Through our partnership with College Products, you can order loft kits, futons, safes, and more to personalize your space. Items ordered through College Products by the date listed on their site will be delivered directly to your room and waiting for you when you arrive — saving you time, space, and extra packing!
  • Kentucky experiences all four seasons, so plan accordingly. Consider packing what you’ll need for late summer and fall, then take those items home during Thanksgiving break and swap them out for winter gear when you return.
  • When decorating your space, use products that won't damage the walls. Be careful when removing 3M Command strips—if not done properly, they can pull off plaster or paint, which could lead to damage charges.

Inclement Weather

Move-in will continue rain or shine, so we encourage all students and families to prepare accordingly. While we do our best to ensure a smooth and safe move-in experience, weather conditions can vary. Please check the forecast and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring umbrellas, rain gear, or sun protection as needed, and be ready for any weather changes. We appreciate your flexibility and spirit as we work together to welcome our new Cardinals, no matter the forecast!

Privacy and Safety

At the University of Louisville, the safety and privacy of our residents are top priorities. In line with university policies and Kentucky state regulations, University Housing will not release room numbers, phone numbers, or other private information to any unauthorized individual — including friends, parents, and relatives. While this policy may occasionally feel inconvenient, it is essential for maintaining a secure and supportive living environment for all Cardinals.

We strongly encourage residents to share their room number, hall address, and phone number directly with family and trusted friends.
