Serving his fifteenth term as the Tribal Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, Greg Sarris is a noted Miwok and Pomo author and former professor. His memoir in essays, Becoming Story: A Journey Among Seasons, Places, Trees, and Ancestors, not only looks at his own life from his childhood with non-Native, adoptive parents and then the foster care system to his life as a tribal leader, but also asks each of us to consider our relationship with the lands we are from and our ancestors who inhabited them.
