Tim Roberts spotlights Marvel Comics in Teaching Webinar

On Friday, October 7, 2022, Instructor Tim Roberts presented a teaching webinar titled, "Everything I Know About Teaching Well I Learned From Marvel Comics." Tim's webinar featured five things he learned from Marvel Comics during his early teenage years that have formed the basis for his teaching ever since.

Tim suggests that Marvel can help us improve our connection with students, enhance their academic experience, and invite them into a life-long love of learning. According to Gerald Graff's "Hidden Intellectualism," we associate "the life of the mind" too narrowly with subjects we think are weight and academic. Discussing lessons from Marvel broadens the idea of "the life of the mind" and helps us add value to our teaching.
