Jessica Newman

Jessie Newman (Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, 2021) has been the director of tutoring services at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville since 2019, before she dissertated. She directs tutoring for all subjects across the six campuses. Her major responsibilities include recruiting and hiring peer and adjunct tutors, managing faculty and librarian tutors,  developing and facilitating tutor training, evaluating tutors and the tutoring program, marketing, budgeting, supervising the administrative assistant and tutoring coordinator, sitting on various committees, and generally developing the tutoring program to best meet student needs. This is a perfect fit for Jessie, whose research interests revolve around writing centers and tutoring, particularly in connection with listening.
