The Association of Women Surgeons Foundation has selected Dr. Mary E. Fallat as the 2024 recipient of the Dr. Nina Starr Braunwald Award. Named in honor of the founder of AWS, this award was established to encourage and support female medical students pursuing a career in surgery. The recipient is chosen based on their potential leadership qualities or research contributions to the field of surgery. Dr. Fallat will be honored at the AWS Foundation Awards Dinner & Gala on Sunday, October 20 in San Francisco. Dr. Fallat is a well-respected, highly regarded pediatric surgeon. She is Professor of Surgery and served for many years as Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Louisville, Surgeon-in-Chief of Norton Children’s hospital, and Program Director of the ACGM-accredited Pediatric Surgery Fellowship.
