Biorepository & Sample Access

The Division of Surgical Oncology maintains a comprehensive biorepository that supports cancer research through retrospective and prospective collaborations. Our repository houses over 5,000 cryopreserved tissues from 1,500 patients, spanning 20+ cancer types and 40 different anatomical sites. Available samples include tumor tissues, adjacent normal tissues, serum, PBMCs, and additional biospecimens upon request.

Our advanced biorepository features temperature-monitored cryogenic storage and stringent quality assurance (QA) protocols, ensuring the integrity of all specimens. We actively support prospective longitudinal studies by providing access to fresh tissues, paraffin-embedded samples, and other clinically relevant biospecimens tailored to research needs.

We welcome academic, clinical, and industry collaborations, which enable translational research to advance precision medicine and improve patient outcomes. Please contact us for inquiries on sample availability and research partnerships.

Our Services & Collaborative Opportunities

♢ Clinical Chemistry – Piccolo Xpress: Rapid 12-minute real-time analysis of liver, kidney, lipid, metabolic, and general chemistry panels using 100µL of whole blood, serum, or plasma. Supports human and mouse samples, enabling high-throughput biorepository analysis.

♢ High-Dimensional Imaging & Spatial Analysis:

  • Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC) – Multiplex imaging of 40+ markers for immune profiling, tumor microenvironment studies, and drug response assessment.
  • THUNDER Imager 3D Assay – High-resolution imaging of 3D cultures, organoids, and tissues with artifact-free computational clearing.
  • THUNDER Imager Live Cell – Real-time, long-term live-cell imaging with an integrated environmental incubator for drug screening and cell behavior studies.

♢ Single-Cell & Multiplex Analysis:

  • Mass Cytometry (CyTOF™) – High-parameter immune profiling, drug screening, and on/off-target effect evaluation with minimal signal overlap.
  • Multiplex Cytokine & Protein Analysis – Luminex – Simultaneous detection of up to 80 proteins per well, covering cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors across human, mouse, rat, and other species. Supports customized panels for high-throughput biomarker analysis.

♢ Ex-Vivo Organoid Models: We develop patient-derived ex-vivo organoid models for preclinical drug testing, personalized medicine, and disease modeling. These 3D tumor organoid cultures allow:

  • Functional screening of drug responses in a patient-specific manner.
  • Co-culture studies with immune cells, fibroblasts, and stromal components.
  • Spatiotemporal analysis of tumor microenvironment interactions.

♢ Tissue Microarrays (TMAs): Custom paraffin-embedded TMAs with high-throughput IHC staining capabilities. Flexible core sizes and configurations available upon request.
