Brand Identity & Visual Standards

Guidelines for creating UofL-branded marketing materials and websites

Content Management Systems & Website Hosting

There are multiple benefits of a centralized content management system and website hosting solution including better search engine optimization, controlled information architecture schema, standardized branding, comprehensive web analytics, disaster recovery and data backup solutions, cost savings, cohesive mobile-friendly user experience, and compliance (accessibility, privacy, etc.)

Because of this, UofL requires:

  • CMS - The official content management system (CMS) of the University of Louisville is Plone, and a transition to Drupal is in progress. No other CMS may be used to manage content for an external or internal UofL website.
  • Hosting - Web hosting for university sites must be provided by UofL ITS (or designated third-party of their choosing). No other web hosting solution may be utilized.

Exceptions to this policy may be submitted for consideration by the Web Standards Group by contacting web@louisville.edu.
