SLO 1
Use the sustained analysis of evidence to develop a central interpretive idea or argument. Demonstrate effective prose and appropriate engagement with disciplinary vocabulary.
SLO 2
Extend, deepen and refine critical thinking skills, including the ability to engage in researched writing.
SLO 3
Relate texts to social and historical contexts; demonstrate awareness of cultural complexity of texts.
SLO 4
Develop an understanding of conventions, traditions, or current trends related to the forms and genres being studied.
SLO 5
Understand and engage authentic analog and/or digital text technologies, such as printing, papermaking, advertising, digital environments, as well as communication and distribution networks that shape authorship and reception.
Note that SLO 5 is specific to CUE courses, particularly ENGL 599, the capstone course all students in the new major take.
