A monthly recognition from the Office of the Provost celebrating UofL faculty and staff whose work makes a meaningful impact.
Meet the November 2026 Cardinal of Distinction
Dr. Brian Williams was selected as the November 2026 Cardinal of Distinction recipient for his leadership, mentorship and commitment to creating opportunities for others across UofL’s clinical, educational and research missions.
Dr. Williams has helped build a multidisciplinary brain tumor program bringing together complex neurosurgical care, research, clinical trials and advanced training. He also supports the development of residents, fellows and junior faculty by connecting them with collaborators, resources, research opportunities and professional visibility.
Dr. Williams makes the University better not only through his own accomplishments, but through the accomplishments he makes possible in others.
Dr. Williams’ generosity, mentorship and collaborative leadership reflect the spirit of the Cardinal of Distinction Award.
