What do you love most about your family and/or friends?

The seemingly endless level of support and encouragement they provide. Law school, undoubtably, can be mentally exhausting. But having a strong support system has eased the burden and provided the necessary strength to endure.

What undergraduate and graduate degrees do you have?

I have a B.S. in Political Science, a B.A. in Economics, and a minor in Pan-African Studies from the University of Louisville. I have a Master’s in International Business from Florida International University.

Why law school and why Brandeis?

Growing up I always had an admiration for pilots and attorneys. I knew I wanted to be one or the other. After visiting court with my uncle, I set my sights on practicing law. I found myself attracted to the abstruseness of the field. While the rules are often concrete, the arguments and outcomes can vary. It is a field that forces you to adapt, grow, and can often be rewarding.

I chose Brandeis for the proximity to home. The majority of my friends and family are local and having a strong support system is essential to thriving in law school.

How have you changed since your 1L year?

I’ve made a lot of positive changes since 1L year. I’ve become significantly more organized and have worked on my time management skills. I’ve also developed healthier ways to handle stress, such as exercising and hobbies.

What is the greatest challenge you've overcome and why?

The greatest challenge I’ve overcome was graduate school (funny because I’m back again). A combination of things such as working, being away from family and friends, and personal issues made it a difficult time. But graduating made the struggle worth it.

How do you define Inclusive? How do you define Excellence?

To me, inclusive means providing a space in which everyone, regardless of their socio-economic factors, has an equal opportunity and access to the resources necessary to achieve their goals.

Similarly, to me, excellence is continually finding new ways to develop and reach your goals. There’s no absolute definition of what constitutes excellence. So long as you gave your best effort, be proud of what you achieve.

What is your professional goal for five years from now?

My professional goal for five years from now is to simply be a practicing attorney.

What is your favorite quote?
