I was born and raised in Slovakia, a country with beautiful nature, and many castles which is home of bryndzove halusky – our national food. I studied medicine in Medical Scientist Training Program in neighbouring Czech Republic. After graduation from medical school, I decided to pursue further medical education in the US. I love sports, especially soccer, ice hockey and frisbee. Also, I like reading popular science books and spending time with my family and friends.
After reading Sacks’ The Men Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, I was amazed at how many ways the neurological disease can manifest itself. At the same time, I was fascinated that we can explain these symptoms by understanding the workings of the brain. I think neurology is one of the most progressive medical fields with many new discoveries coming soon, and I’d like to be part of this exciting future. I believe the University of Louisville provides excellent training and I’m excited about the opportunity to grow my knowledge and clinical skills in neurology here. The other important reason I'm glad I matched into this program is the cordial and supportive atmosphere that exists in this program. In the future, I would like to pursue a Neurovascular, Neuroimmunology or Neuro-oncology subspecialty.
