Scholarship programs for first-time freshmen entering UofL in Fall 2025, residing outside of Kentucky and Southern Indiana (Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington Counties).
Admissions Scholarships
Grawemeyer Competitive Scholarship: December 15 deadline.
Additional application and materials required.
All other Admissions Scholarships: No deadline; awarded through May 1.
No scholarship application required.
- Students who meet the minimum criteria will be notified of their award or eligibility in their New Cards Gateway.
- All awards listed are renewable.
- Admissions scholarships cannot be stacked with other admissions scholarships.
- Students will receive the highest scholarship amount they qualify for.
- Out-of-state students enrolled in 100% online degree programs are not eligible for admissions scholarships.
- Students attending school on an F1 visa are not eligible for admissions scholarships. International scholarships are available.

In-State Tuition for Out-Of-State Students
This grant enables out-of-state resident students to pay the equivalent of Kentucky in-state tuition by subtracting it from their tuition bill. Learn more.

The University of Louisville awards ten students who demonstrate an interest in undergraduate research in their respective fields with the Grawemeyer Scholarship. Recipients are involved in a program of civic and cultural engagement in Metro Louisville and are encouraged to do undergraduate research with faculty. The program facilitates the connections necessary to get started on undergraduate research projects. As a part of their scholarship, students will have the opportunity to attend the awards banquet where these esteemed Grawemeyer Award recipients are named for their innovative ideas and research.

FAFSA-Based Aid
If you wish to apply for any need-based program, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UofL’s school code is 001999.
The 2025-2026 FAFSA will open in December 1, 2024. Students who wish to start at UofL in Fall 2025 are highly recommended to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens.
• Need-based aid, tuition assistance and scholarships do not need to be repaid.
• Loans require repayment. Subsidized loans charge interest after graduation. Unsubsidized loans charge interest immediately.
• All amounts below are based on the 2024-2025 FAFSA.
