Prof. Sweeny offers insight on revenge porn bill
In a Feb. 16, 2017, Courier-Journal article, Professor JoAnne Sweeny says that a Kentucky bill targeting revenge porn seems tailored enough to avoid any concerns about infringing on First Amendment rights.
Senate Bill 148 would make it a crime to distribute sexually explicit images of someone without their written consent.
"It's terrifying for the victims and humiliating," Sweeny says in the article. "I know that oftentimes these harms are kind of minimized by police, or prosecutors or legislators. ... There's a lot of victim-blaming here that, you know, you shouldn't have taken those videos if you didn't want them spread around."
