Congratulations to Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Diversity Crystal Rae Coel, Esq., M.A., who has received the GEM Award from the National Association of Law Student Affairs Professionals, one of four national awards presented by the organization.

The award was presented June 20 at the Eighth Annual NALSAP Conference hosted by Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

The GEM Award is presented to a NALSAP member who “goes the extra mile” in specific and recognizable ways; serves as a consultant, counselor, mentor or cheerleader for a NALSAP colleague; and shows mentorship efforts through the NALSAP Mentorship Program.

Dean Coel was nominated by her mentee, Chris Gast, the senior director of student resources and professor of practice at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law.

The other national awards and their recipients are the NALSAP CORE Four Award, presented to St. John’s University School of Law’s Melissa Kubit Angelides; the Innovation and Impact Award, presented to Yale Law School’s Jennifer Cerny; and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award, presented to University of Buffalo School of Law’s Ashley Abbott.
