Breonna Taylor Legacy Fellows for 2024 announced
Second-year students McKenley Butler, Chearlise Stoudemire and Alexis Cammack have been selected to receive the 2024 Breonna Taylor Legacy Fellowship. The three were recognized at the Breonna Taylor Lecture on Structural Inequality on April 10.
The fellowship was established in 2022 through a gift endowment from artist Amy Sherald who painted Taylor’s portrait featured on the cover of the September 2020 issue of Vanity Fair magazine. Proceeds from the sale of the portrait fund the fellowship which is presented annually to three law students who will participate in social justice work over the summer.
Butler, Stoudemire and Cammack sat down for a video shown to lecture attendees, describing the work they plan to do and what the fellowship means to them. View the video here.
