Prof. Maynard explores how data can inform teaching
In a presentation at the University of Louisville's Teaching Innovation Learning Lab, Professor Goldburn P. Maynard outlined the ways that data can inform how -- and what -- faculty teach.
He co-presented the talk with Dr. Marie Kendall Brown, associate director for teaching, learning and innovation at UofL's Delphi Center.
They focused on the value of mid-semester feedback, which allows an instructor to get feedback and suggestions from learners in order to make appropriate adjustments or changes during the remainder of the semester.
In Maynard's case, he asks for student feedback weekly and mid-semester. He uses the data he gathers from students to analyze what is going well in his courses and where students are struggling.
Maynard and Brown will present the second part of their talk on March 6.
