3+3 program allows for accelerated path to law career
Starting in the 2016-17 school year, students at the University of Louisville have the opportunity to get a jump-start on their legal careers.
Thanks to the 3+3 Accelerated Law Program, eligible undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences can apply to the Brandeis School of Law their junior year. If accepted, they would complete their undergraduate degree as a first-year law student and earn a bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor in six years rather than the standard seven.
This accelerated program allows students to save a year of tuition and other costs and start their legal careers a year early.
"We are excited about welcoming these outstanding scholars to our Brandeis community and are happy to work with any student needing more information about how this program can benefit them," said Susan Duncan, dean of Brandeis Law.
Right now, students in three undergraduate majors -- criminal justice, history and women's and gender studies -- are eligible to apply for the program. Interested students in those majors should check with their advisers to learn more about the program.
“This partnership is an opportunity for A&S students to demonstrate how a degree in the liberal arts and sciences is an excellent foundation for the Brandeis School of Law," said Kimberly Kempf-Leonard, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. "We are confident that students who complete one of the 3+3 programs will be poised for success in their chosen career paths.”
