Public Child Welfare Certification Program (PCWCP)

BSW Students may apply to be a part of the Public Child Welfare Certification Program (PCWCP), which provides an opportunity to receive advanced training in the areas of child welfare protection and permanency.  A scholarship, stipend, living expenses, and travel related to the program are awarded.  Applications are due two dates per year, April 15th and September 30th. The purpose of the Public Child Welfare Certification Program (PCWCP) is to provide BSW students the opportunity to receive advanced training in the areas of child welfare protection and permanency. Students accepted into PCWCP receive a scholarship that pays either the last three or four semesters of their in-state tuition, including a $1,300-per-semester stipend for books, living expenses and travel related to the program. 

Requirements are: 

  • Full-time BSW social work major.
  • Minimum of three but no more than four semesters left before graduation.
  • Overall cumulative 2.5 or above GPA.
  • Cumulative 3.0 or above GPA in social work courses.
  • Receives no less than a “B,” satisfactory or pass in the required PCWCP course and field practicum(s).
  • Completion of social work practice course before second PCWCP course.
  • Currently not employed with the Cabinet of Health and Family Services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

SPACE IS LIMITED, SO APPLICANTS ARE CHOSEN FROM A COMPETITIVE SELECTION POOL.
