Accreditation

 The Kent School of Social Work and Family Science has programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE; BSW and MSSW Programs) and the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE; MSCFT Program).

Accreditation of a baccalaureate or master’s social work program by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation indicates that the program meets or exceeds standards that define competent preparation for professional social work at the generalist and/or specialized level. Through the accreditation process the Commission on Accreditation verifies that the program demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods (e.g., on-campus; online) of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program. 

The Doctor of Social Work (DSW) and Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work  (PHD) programs do not require accreditation.
