GSS Newsletter - Week of 8/26

Dear CEHD Graduate Students,

Welcome to the second week of class! We hope that everyone is settling into a groove of some sort. After all, it's an unusual year.

In this week's installment of our newsletter, we wanted to focus on a potpourri (that's for all my Jeopardy viewers >_<) of events and deadlines.

December 2020 degree application deadlines. Super important to know for those who are planning on graduating in December 2020. You must submit a degree application regardless of if you plan on walking in the December 2020 Commencement ceremony. You cannot get your diploma without a degree application! Watch the video for all of the details and how to apply via ulink.

ICYMI: We hosted our first Mini-Monday workshop on 8/24. The topic at hand - establishing an advising relationship with your faculty advisor. You can find the recording here. For a complete list of our workshops and social events, visit our events page. Our next Mini-Monday workshop is on 9/14/2020.  Join us!

RESOURCE WORKSHOP ALERT: If you're interested in learning more about EndNote, a citation management software that makes it easier to format and organize bibliographies (a great resource for anyone working on a thesis or dissertation) then you're in luck. The first virtual workshop of the Fall 2020 term is on 9/1/2020 from 4:00 - 5:00 EST. More information here.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY: CEHD's very own Dr. Patrick Possel is conducting a study to understand the impact of COVID-19. His team is conducting a study about the impact of COVID-19 related stressors. Please take 15-25 minutes to complete this online survey. You will not be asked to provide your name, and responses will be kept confidential. Please direct any questions about the study to Patrick Possel. (IRB# 20.0363). Great opportunity for our new students to see research in action!

CAMPUS RESOURCES UPDATE: Last week we shared this list of mental health resources. We have two more documents to share, including this one on group counseling sessions.

STAY CONNECTED WITH US: Each you have also been added to a Teams channel based on your level of graduate study - masters or doctoral - so that we can be easily in touch. Drop us a line anytime.
