Transfer & Adult Scholarships

The University of Louisville offers a variety of scholarships to students ranging from automatic awards to competitive scholarships. Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions. Scholarships are education funds that don't have to be paid back. Eligibility varies, and can be based on place of residence, academic achievement, ethnicity, program participation and more.

A note regarding ACT/SAT scores and scholarship awards: Students may apply for scholarships with or without test scores. Students applying for scholarships without test scores will be considered through a comprehensive review of academic merit and rigor. Consistent Advanced Placement, Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, and/or dual credit coursework is required for consideration. We strongly encourage students with mid to high ACT/SAT scores to submit their scores to automatically receive additional awards.

Need-based Scholarships

Cardinal Commitment Grant

The University of Louisville is excited to offer the Cardinal Commitment Grant to transfer students from the state of Kentucky.  This grant will provide 100% tuition coverage for students who demonstrate success in the classroom and the financial support needed to transfer to a four-year university.

Students should:

  • be admitted to the University of Louisville as a new undergraduate, degree-seeking transfer student
  • have earned a minimum of 48 transferable hours
  • have a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year, and have it on file with the university
  • be a resident of Kentucky

Eligible students are identified and awarded automatically; offer amounts are calculated taking into consideration all federal and state need-based grants, KEES as well as university and institutional aid.

CCG Renewal

The University of Louisville will continue to award the Cardinal Commitment Grant each semester until the student's first bachelor's degree is awarded. To remain eligible, the student should:

**Change in federal or state aid, including Pell, SEOG, CAP, KEES or institutional merit aid does not result in an increased or decreased award in future semesters.
