Freshman Admissions

*Note: Transfer students, please contact the appropriate undergraduate nursing advisor to determine which curriculum plan you will follow.
Lower Division
Lower Division consists of a minimum of 50 hours. Students may take lower division course work online if offered. Students may also complete their lower division course work part time. Admission to lower division takes place through the UL Office of Undergraduate Admission. The list of lower division courses and their KCTCS equivalent can be found at the links below:
KCTCS Transfer students are welcome to send their unofficial transcript to the appropriate nursing advisor for evaluation of credit. Transfer students from schools not in the KCTCS system are welcome to request a transfer equivalency pre-evaluation through the Office of Transfer Services. A link to this is below:
Upper Division
Admission to upper division is selective and consists of 70 hours of lecture and clinical course work. To be eligible to apply to the upper division portion of the degree, applicants must first be admitted into the lower division of the nursing major at UofL through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Upper division consists of five semesters with no summer courses. Upper Division does not have a fully online option. Clinical compliance items will be required for those admitted into an upper division cohort. This includes the nurse aide requirement.
