Family Scholar House Mission
The Family Scholar House mission is to end the cycle of poverty and transform our community by empowering families and youth to succeed in education and achieve life-long self-sufficiency.
UofL Nursing students are currently being prioritized for housing. Please note that ABSN and MEPN students are eligible.
Owensboro students: FSH does not have facilities in your area, but can work with you on reduced rent options.
How to Access Family Scholar House Services
Family Scholar House services are available to everyone in the community. To access our services, email info@familyscholarhouse.org.
Housing for Single Parents
Single-Parent Students entering our residential program must meet the following qualifications:
- Be single
- Have a child, children, or be pregnant
- Meet low-income housing requirements
- UofL Nursing Students fast tracked
Housing for Young Adults
Young Adults entering our residential program must meet the following qualifications:
- Young adults who were in foster care/state care after their 13th birthday
- Meet low-income housing requirements
- UofL Nursing Students fast tracked
Advocacy Support
- Help navigate solutions to any problems you may face that could hinder your success
- Assistance in applying for necessary welfare benefits
- Connect to resources such as food pantries, childcare, transportation, etc.
Health & Wellness Coaching
- Individualized meal planning and workout plans
- Meditation and yoga practice
- Support navigating community resources
Career Coaching
- Career Exploration
- Resume building, interview preparation, and professionalism
- Job Search
