Guaranteed Early Admission

Deadline - April 1st

Guaranteed Early Admission (GEA) is a competitive admissions process. Forty spaces are reserved each academic year for first-year, full-time college freshmen, who enter the University of Louisville in the fall semester as a nursing major. This application is not open to transfer students. Freshmen nursing majors are eligible to apply in the spring of their first year of enrollment at UofL for guaranteed admission to a specific semester cohort. The deadline is April 1st each year. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of NURS 101.
  • Successful completion of the first year of full-time coursework with a minimum 3.25 program GPA.
  • Completion of CHEM 105 and BIO 102 (or their equivalents) with a minimum grade of B on first attempt.

Students selected for early admission will be required to maintain a cumulative and program GPA of 3.0 in lower division and will agree to begin upper division courses in the specified academic term. If the awarded GEA does not notify the School of Nursing that he/she is ready to begin upper division for the semester selected below, he/she will forfeit the GEA status and must reapply with the general applicant pool to compete for a space in upper division.

Reminder: Students awarded GEA spots, MUST still apply for Upper Division by completing both the upper division application and the background check for the semester they plan to start upper division. GEA students are not required to provide the essay again in the upper division application. Admissions decisions emailed to the @louisville.edu CardMail address provided on this application.
