Brandeis Law students see benefits of bar association membership
Although they are still in law school, several Brandeis Law students are already interacting with members of the local bench and bar as student members of the Louisville Bar Association.
Those opportunities for low-key networking are important for students, said John Weber, a third-year student at Brandeis Law and a member of the LBA's Board of Directors. Students can mingle with LBA members at LBA events like Lawlapalooza and the Ramble 5K.
"The networking has been really cool — being able to talk with judges and practitioners who have years of experience," Weber said. "They're interested in the next generation of lawyers."
Student members also have access to learning opportunities via free CLEs. Weber, who is writing a law review note about the death penalty, plans on attending an upcoming CLE on the topic.
The new student LBA members are:
- Nicholas Alexiou
- Caroline Bruenderman
- Mark Casi
- Cash Collins
- Channing Cox
- Melissa Gibson
- Omer Iqbal
- Crystal King
- Kylie King
- Kelsey Luttrell
- Ian Mathew
- Trent Norris
- Matthew Purdom
- Jesse Renn
- Andrew Ritchie
- Armaan Vasudeva
- Bobby Whitmer
- Megan Ziegman
- Joe Zurschmiede
Brandeis students interested in joining the LBA can join online. Membership is $25/year, and students who join now will have their membership honored through the end of 2018. The LBA's pictorial roster, which includes the contact information of LBA members, is included with membership.
