DSW Student Spotlight: Cowann D. Owens, LCSW DSW Student and MSSW Alum, Cowann (pronounced "Co-Juan") D. Owens, is a licensed clinical social worker with 14 years of social work experience. He is currently employed at the Department of Veterans Affairs where he provides mental health treatment to veterans. Cowann began his career as a Child Protective Services worker in 2008 and branched into a clinical role as a therapist in 2013. In the past, he has served as a child and family therapist in community mental health settings, a middle school counselor, a private practice therapist, and a clinical and administrative supervisor. Honoring Verna Lee Ungvarsky On May 27, University of Louisville Alumni Relations and Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work presented Verna Lee Ungvarsky with adopted alumni status. Ungvarsky, a retired social worker, said it felt like a dream come true to be labeled a UofL Alumnus by Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations Josh Hawkins and Dean of the Raymond A. Our continuing education program demonstrates to the community, prospective students and alumni, our commitment to them, not only inside the classroom but once they are out in the field. In becoming one of the top research social work programs in the country, we provide tools to support your practice in addressing societies most difficult problems. We strive to meet career demands and promote exploration of new careers in social work with the implementation of our online CEU Kent Contributor Series.
All CEU Workshops are approved by The Kentucky Board of Social Work.
