Kentucky Guaranteed Transfer Scholarship

Kentucky residents who will be transferring to the University of Louisville (UofL) as an undergraduate, full-time student are automatically considered for this academic scholarship.

To minimally qualify for scholarship consideration, a student must:

  • Earn a transferable GPA of a 3.5 or higher
  • Transfer a minimum of 24 semester hours
  • Be admitted to UofL and seeking your first undergraduate bachelor’s degree.
    • Only first-time UofL transfer students will be considered. Previous UofL students readmitted to the university are not eligible.
  • Transfer from a regionally accredited, four-year institution*
  • Submit a final transcript (final award amounts and scholarship disbursement are contingent upon receipt of final transcript(s))
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be classified by UofL as a resident student status for tuition billing purposes.
    • Residents of Kentucky and the reciprocal Southern Indiana counties (Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington) are eligible for consideration.
    • Students enrolled in an entirely online program are not eligible for consideration.

Awards for this scholarship are made based on a combination of transferrable credit hours and GPA. The scholarship award amount is $2000 for the academic year.

This scholarship is renewable provided all eligibility requirements are met. Conditions of renewal include good academic standing and continuous fall and spring full-time enrollment. There is no limit on renewable terms provided all eligibility requirements are met; students are no longer eligible for the scholarship once the first bachelor’s degree is obtained.  Detailed renewal conditions are outlined in the terms of agreement upon offer of the scholarship.

If you have any questions concerning scholarship eligibility, please contact transfer services at transfer@louisville.edu, and put "Guaranteed Transfer Scholarship" in the subject line.

*Students may use a combination of two- and four-year transferrable credit AND test credit to equate 24+ transferrable hours as long as the most recent transfer institution is a four-year institution.
