Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in health programs and activities. 

Among other things, the law requires language services, interpreters, and/or translators to ensure meaningful access to individuals with limited English proficiency; effective communication for individuals with disabilities; accessibility to buildings and facilities; equal access to health programs and activities without discriminating on the basis of sex; nondiscrimination in the use of patient care decision support tools; and nondiscrimination in the use of telehealth services.
