The Privacy Office is available to assist researchers and study teams with privacy concerns regarding research studies conducted at UofL. The astonishing pace of new domestic and international regulations and the emergence of new technology, coupled with an increasing scrutiny surrounding the privacy of individuals’ data, in both academic and healthcare settings, means that there must be greater attention paid to the issue of data privacy in the research setting.
We are available to assist researchers with privacy aspects of their studies from the creation of research protocols through data collection and beyond. Researchers should review the Guide for Privacy/Data Security Issues for Research prior to submission of their study documents to the IRB to ensure that they are compliant with UofL's policies regarding data privacy and security. Please note that international studies also require review by the Privacy Office and the Office of University Counsel so please be sure to build the time for this review into your study timeline.
The Guide for Privacy/Data Security Issues for Research is available here.
Attention Researchers! If you are creating a study protocol, please consult the Guide for Privacy/Data Security Issues for Research to ensure that your protocol meets university requirements for the collection and use of data.
