Ms. Cristin Whitaker's nursing interests and practice expertise are primarily in Maternal-Newborn Health, Lactation and Simulation. She has more than 15 years of teaching experience in prenatal education, undergraduate clinical and didactic nursing instruction combined. She has worked in high risk obstetrical, Labor & Delivery, perinatal home visiting, prenatal education, and lactation settings. She is certified as a Certified Childbirth Educator (CCE), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Coming to the University of Louisville School of Nursing in August of 2011 as a part-time instructor, she was involved with establishing the maternal newborn nursing clinical experiences in the prelicensure program at the Owensboro Extension. She was appointed as a full-time instructor and the Owensboro Extension Simulation Lab Faculty Coordinator in August 2020.
