Ms. Cristin Whitaker's nursing interests and practice expertise are primarily in Simulation, Maternal-Newborn Health, and Lactation. She began nursing in 2005 and teaching in 2006, with experience in prenatal patient education as well as academic undergraduate clinical, didactic and simulation nursing instruction. She has worked in Labor & Delivery, high risk obstetrical unit, perinatal home visiting, prenatal education, and lactation settings. She is certified as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Certified Childbirth Educator (CCE). Coming to the University of Louisville School of Nursing in August of 2011 as a part-time instructor, she was involved with establishing the maternal newborn nursing clinical experiences and facilitating simulation in the prelicensure program at the Owensboro Extension. She was appointed in August 2020 as a full-time instructor and Owensboro Extension Simulation Lab Faculty Coordinator and Assistant Professor in August of 2022.

As Simulation Lab Faculty Coordinator, Ms. Cristin Whitaker oversees the operation of the Owensboro Extension of School of Nursing Clinical Simulation Center (CSC). She collaborates with the CSC team to implement best practices in the facilitation and delivery of simulation experiences. She had an integral role in development and implementation of the Culminating Capstone Simulation Scenario used in Owensboro BSN program.
