Dr. Nash completed her master's and PhD degrees in nursing at the University of Louisville. She has been a registered nurse since 1987, an adult APRN since 1997, and an educator for 25 years. She currently serves the School of Nursing as the associate dean of practice and service. Her most recent research activity focuses on interprofessional education (IPE) and practice (IPP). Dr. Nash has considerable experience translating research findings into curricular changes and project development. Examples include incorporating IPE concepts into advanced practice nursing courses and the development of IPP opportunities in international settings for all levels of students. Due in part to her contributions to IPE, she is serving as the assistant vice-president of interprofessional practice partnerships. Dr. Nash was the founding director of The Kentucky Racing Health Services Center in 2005 and used an interprofessional framework that incorporated a variety of disciplines. This practice evolved over the past 15 years into a nationally recognized model. The Trager Center for Optimal Aging was recently opened due in part to the initial success of the two on-going HRSA funded studies focusing on interprofessional geriatric education and integrated behavioral health care education and delivery. Dr. Nash serves as Co-PI on both of these grants. Her most recent research focused on the impact of COVID-19 on older adults in residential care settings. She has published and presented nationally and internationally on the topics of IPE/IPP and advanced practice.
