Dr. Hayden completed her doctor of nursing practice in 2019 and her master of science in nursing in 2009, both at the University of Louisville. She joined the University of Louisville School of Nursing in 2010 and became an Assistant Professor in 2013. She has practiced as an adult nurse practitioner in primary care for over 10 years at the Kentucky Racing Health Services Center, where she serves as the director. Dr. Hayden was the first nurse practitioner ever appointed at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and spent four years studying the oral-systemic health connection in medically complex dental patients and interprofessional practice.  This became the focus of her doctor of nursing practice.  Hayden served as an investigator on a grant entitled, “Enhancing Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Between Nursing and Dental Students Via a Technology Enhanced IPE Model Focused on the Oral-Systemic Health Connection.” She is the track coordinator for the adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner track of the doctor of nursing practice program and is a course coordinator in two courses in the program. Dr. Hayden is the recipient of several teaching and practice awards.
