EMED 910 - Visiting Student Clerkship Scholarship

Mission

We are committed to developing our program to reflect and serve our heterogeneous patient population. This is especially important in the emergency department, as we are often the “face” of the healthcare system for many of the medically underserved.

In an effort to recruit residents from across the country from all backgrounds, the University of Louisville Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to offer this scholarship to non-ULSOM students who plan on entering into a career in emergency medicine and complete the emergency medicine clerkship at the University of Louisville.

Scholarship

The ULSOM Department of Emergency Medicine will choose up to 3 applicants per academic year. These students will receive $1,500 prior to the start of their ULSOM emergency medicine rotation to offset travel, housing, and other rotation costs.

Eligibility

  • Rising or current fourth-year students in good standing at an accredited U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical school
  • Plan on pursuing a career in emergency medicine
  • The EMED 910—Visiting Student Clerkship Scholarship is open to all eligible students regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age. Applicants must apply for the ULSOM scholarship using the application (see “How to Apply” below).
  • Have applied to the ULSOM emergency medicine clerkship using the VSLO system.
  • Failure to complete the ULSOM emergency medicine clerkship for any reason will result in the revocation of the scholarship.

How to Apply

  1. Apply to the ULSOM Emergency Medicine clerkship through VSLO and accept an offered rotation.
  2. Complete the online scholarship application form here and return to Alison Phillips at.  Scholarship applications can be submitted at any time prior to the start of the rotation but will not be considered until you have submitted your VSLO application and accepted the offered rotation.
