Clinical Rotations

Southeast Kentucky AHEC arranges clinical rotations for students who are in schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health.  Practicing clinicians who have been approved by the applicable university serve as preceptors for the students.  Sites for clinical rotations are throughout many towns within our sixteen county service region.  Low-cost temporary housing is provided to students while on rotation.

Health Careers Programming

Our team of three health career coordinators, located in Beattyville, Cumberland, and McDowell, provide in-class educational opportunities for students in grades 5 through 12.  Some titles of these programs include, but are not limited to, “Guardians of Public Health”, “Sensitivity to Aging”, and “You Are What You Eat”.  In addition to in-class programming, we provide multiple pipeline opportunities that include summer camps, job shadowing, and college preparation opportunities.  Our goal is to provide students an opportunity at an early age to become engaged in events that promote learning and interest in health careers.

CE/CME

Southeast Kentucky AHEC provides multiple opportunities for continuing education and continuing medical education for our communities served.  Most of our educational offerings are in partnership with local health care providers.

Library Services

Southeast Kentucky AHEC operates a fully functioning medical library located within ARH Regional Medical Center in Hazard.  The library is open to community based practitioners, university and/or community college students, and the general public.  Within the library, we have journal holdings and access to multiple journals online.  In addition, we have three computer stations setup for your use with work or research activities.
