Non-Degree Seeking Student Admit Guide
Are you ready to join the Cardinal Family? Here's a guide to help you with your next steps!
Please activate your student account within 30 days of being admitted. After 30 days, students must reach out to the IT Help Desk for assistance in activating.
Steps to activate:
- Sign up for Duo two-factor authentication. Need help with Duo or activation? Contact our IT Help Desk.
- Activate your student accounts. Please note: you will need your 7-digit student ID to activate your account. This number can be found in your New Cards Gateway.
- Log in to both ULink and your UofL email. This will ensure your access is complete.
Activating your UofL student accounts does not change your New Cards Gateway login and password. You will need to continue to monitor your gateway to complete important steps to officially join the Cardinal community.
Activate your students accounts to have access to:
- UofL student email: Communications will be sent to your UofL email regarding next steps, financial aid, campus housing and more. Your professors will contact you at your UofL email address. The Student Financial Aid Office will only communicate important financial aid information to your UofL email account.
- ULink: ULink is used to register for classes, access financial aid, view your tuition balance and more.
- Blackboard: Blackboard is the University of Louisville's technology platform for in-person and online classes. You can access your syllabus, grades, assignments and more in Blackboard for each of your classes.
- Once you have access to ULink, you can complete the required pre-registration questions. These can be found in the "Tasks" tile in Ulink. You will need to complete this task every semester prior to registration.
- Once class registration is open, and the pre-registration questions are complete, you can also register for classes in ULink.
You can find your account balance on ULink. You can pay your fees at the Bursar’s office or via ULink.
In order to be issued a refund of any residual funds that may be in your student account after tuition and fees are paid, you must set up your refund method in ULink (serviced by Nelnet.)
- Log into your student portal via ULink
- Click on the Financial Account tile.
- In the Financial Account tile, click the Nelnet icon labeled "Student Refunding."
- More information can be found at the Bursar Office website.
Every student is required to have a Student ID, also known as your Cardinal Card. This card confirms that you are a University of Louisville student and indicates you are entitled to the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a student. The Cardinal Card functions as your ID card, meal card and library card, among many other uses. Submit your student ID photo in advance.
The Cardinal Card is optional for online program students. For more information, please send an email request with your ID number to cardinalcard@louisville.edu or visit Get a Card.
If you plan to have a car on campus you'll need to order a parking pass. View parking pass options.
If you need accessible parking, please complete an accessible parking form.
Non-degree students are not required to attend Orientation; however, if you would like to register for an orientation session to become more familiar with university services and departments, please contact our office at orient@louisville.edu. You can contact your specific academic unit with questions about advising requirements or your major.
