Dual Credit Students

Dual Credit Students are students currently enrolled in high school who want to take college courses.

The University of Louisville offers qualified high school students the opportunity to earn college credit by attending classes on campus at the UofL. Benefits of our dual credit program include:

  • Developing a college transcript while in high school
  • Experiencing college curriculum and instructional methods
  • Shortening the amount of time required to complete a college degree
  • Saving money with a special reduced rate
  • Offering high school students the amenities of a UofL college student: free TARC access, free access to UofL’s libraries and free access to our student recreation center

Steps to Apply:

  1. Complete UofL's Take Flight Application.
  2. Submit your official high school transcript(s).
  3. Submit your test scores (optional).
    1. Students must have a 3.0 GPA, ACT 22/1100 or higher. Test results may be submitted from the testing agency or may appear on your official high school transcript. UofL school codes are listed below:

alert-outline

Parents: The Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits discussion of a student’s academic performance with anyone other than the student. Dual credit UofL instructors follow these FERPA mandates.  Please note that parents will not be notified if a participating student is doing poorly in class. A parent may discuss grades with their child but not the instructor. Any grade received in a dual credit class will become a part of the student’s high school and college permanent record.

Dual Credit Transcript Requests

If you have completed dual credit classes (courses taken through a college that also earn you high school credit) UofL will need an official copy of each of your college transcripts to award you transfer credit. While that course may also be on your high school transcript, credit cannot be awarded without the official copy from the college. If you are unsure what college(s) your dual credit courses were through, please check with your high school guidance counselor.

Order your transcripts when you have finished taking all of your courses at that college, and your final grades have posted. If you can have your transcripts sent before your freshman orientation session, great! Otherwise, print out unofficial copies to bring with you to your orientation session to help ensure you are placed in the proper courses.

Below are links to request transcripts from colleges in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. If you don't see your dual credit college on this list, just look up the school and search for "how to order a transcript" or go to the school's registrars office page.
